VotD (21 Jan. 2010) – “Rush Hour in Japan”

January 21, 2010

In a new Travelverse feature, today’s Video of the Day (VotD) comes from Japan during the rush hour train commute.  Keep in mind this is a country renowned for their efficient public transportation and revolutionary high speed trains, so next time you hear someone bitching about being stuck in traffic or on a crowded subway… slap them.

Lol! They definitely get as many people as they can on one train.

No freakin’ way! Are they serious?!
Is there a video of their arrival and release? Wonder what that looks like…

    Wow.

i think the real question we should be asking here is how much groping do guys get away with during the trip? haha

I’ve seen this video before and it still amuses me how they’re so squished in there.
And people in New York get annoyed when bodies touch during rush hour. NYC should hire some of these Japanese pushers or whatever they’re called.
And do answer your VotD question, I think best subway system is a tie between London and Madrid. They’re both very clean and get you basically everywhere in the city. Following them I would say is New York just because of how extensive the subway system is.

Madrid is the best IMO (from what I have experienced so far)

in my biased opinion, its the london underground hands down. the longest line runs 46 miles in distance and the entire system combined covers approx. 300 miles total. its efficient, with trains coming regularly and on time, and while i dont have any figures to show, i would safely assume that the ratio of people who use public transit vs. those who don’t is the higher in london than any other city in the world. the tube is woven into the fabric of being a londoner.

I think all the systems sound great as long as there’s no groping 🙂
